Pa Peter Tipene is a Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Auckland and currently the administrator of the Cathedral of St Patricks and St Joseph in Auckland. He is a past pupil of St Peter’s College Auckland and was a former supervisor at NZ Post before joining the priesthood. He studied Theology at the University of Otago and Liturgy at Saint John’s University Collegeville MN USA.
Peter is well known for his leadership in developing inclusive hospitable parish communities and has been parish priest at Avondale, Orewa, Onehunga, Epsom and now the Cathedral. Peter will speak about his experience of Manaakitanga with his close whanau connections to Pungaru in the North and what we can learn for our own communities from a practice and understanding of Manaakitanga.
